NIFT is the country's first fashion institute, founded in 1986, and has been at the forefront of supplying professional human resources to the textile and clothing industries. It was established as a formal institute in 2006 by an Act of the Indian Parliament, with the President of India serving as the 'Visitor,' and now has full-fledged campuses across the country. Over the years, NIFT has also served as a knowledge service provider to the Union and State governments in the areas of handloom and handicraft design development and positioning.

Age Limit
Candidates must be 23 years of age as of August 1, 2022. However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Person With Disability get a relaxation of 5 years.
